We recently got a call from a returning client whom we had worked with previously. They are a property management that we have a great relationship with. They called us after we had done some new parking lot paving in Aurora for them. They really enjoyed working with us the first time around, and were excited for us to start on their new project. They needed a new parking lot outside of a bank location that was being built out. Since this asphalt paving was to happen fairly concurrently with the construction of the building, there were some logistical obstacles to clear before we could go about doing the paving in the professional manner that we always bring to the table.
The Paving Contractor Project Begins
The first thing we had to do was get an idea of the scope of the project. In order to do that, our estimator team went out to the site after thoroughly discussing the contract work with the client. We came up with a plan of attack, then provided the client with the estimate. They were actually pleasantly surprised and overwhelmingly satisfied with the price tag of the project as well as the timetable. One of the project managers asked us if we thought the schedule was too optimistic, but we assured him that we tend to make a habit of under-promising and over-delivering. He seemed happy once again to be working with us, and for our team it was time to get started!
We weren’t exactly working with a raw site. The area had been cleared and prepared for construction, but not for parking lot paving. The site grading process wasn’t as intensive as some other projects, though. This was one of the reasons we had provided our timetable as it had been prepared. We knew we could save time here, and some other places. After that, we laid the base layer. Once that task had been completed, we went ahead and poured the asphalt. After compacting, we also sealed and painted asphalt.
The management company sent us a postcard from the bank address after it had been opened. They were absolutely thrilled with the job we did. Since this was a retail space, we expect to be back in 5 or so years to perform some minor maintenance. We are confident in our product and made a very satisfied customer with this project!
